Nose Piece for Snoring – a $20 Snore Cure, or Not?

Can you really use a cheap piece of silicone to get rid of loud snores? How does a nose piece for snoring actually work? And, should you even try it?

What is a Nose Piece for Snoring?

First of all, nose pieces or “nose vents”, dilate the nostrils to open airways and prevent snoring. This differs from mouthpieces that adjust the tongue or jaw to open airways.

Therefore, a nose piece may be most beneficial to people with obstructions in the nasal passage, nighttime sinus issues or a deviated septum. Once you unclog your nose and nasal congestion, you can breathe more freely and reduce snoring vibrations.

Many users think these silicone vents fit comfortably. Plus, they are conveniently small and virtually unnoticeable. However, some people report that the pieces fall out during the night.

Their compact size makes them easy to use and travel with. That said, the biggest problem may be not losing them. The medical-grade silicone can last a long time, but this $25 anti-snoring device can turn into a costly purchase if you lose it. (By the way, you actually get 2 usable vents in each package.)

Also, you want to treat this mini gadget gently, since the center strip may tear if you are not careful. Watch the video below for a complete anti-snoring nosepiece review:

Nose Vents VS Nasal Strips

1. They Can Save You Money

How Snore Vents Stop Snoring NaturallyCompared to disposable nasal strips, nose vents obviously last longer and save you money in the long run. If you don’t lose them, that is. 😉 They also produce less waste/trash.

2. They Work Better

In addition, this small device can open up the nostrils wider. In fact, Snore Care reports a 3X improvement over the strips. That said, if the nose pieces don’t fit your nostrils snugly, they may fall out, which renders them useless.

3. They Don’t Leave a Sticky Residue

Nasal dilators don’t leave a sticky residue either. In the past, I’ve found that the strips (especially the extra strong version) leaves a small amount of the adhesive on my skin in the morning. Although not a big problem, it’s a minor inconvenience that I didn’t like.

Are Nasal Strips Any Good (or Bad) to Stop Snoring

Nasal Strips to Relieve Congestion and Prevent SnoringIf you suffer from sinus congestion and nasal strips haven’t worked for you in the past, you may want to test nose pieces. After all, they offer a money-back guarantee.

That said, many snorers like using these disposable strips to clear nasal passages temporarily. They say that they are simple, effective and cheap at improving breathing. I mean, you can buy a 30-count pack for as little as $7.

To increase the effectiveness of nasal strips, choose the correct size for your nose. In addition, opt for the “extra strong” version because it will stick to your nose better and open the nostrils wider.

Below I’ve compared nasal strip brands with the best price. You can buy them online.

Note: When people complain the the nasal strips don’t stick, usually it’s because they didn’t get the extra strength version. Also, skin itching or irritation typically happens from an allergy to latex and can be a common side effect.

Do You Have to Stop Snoring Entirely?

By the way, Breathe Right does state that their strips can sometimes help alleviate snoring due to a deviated septum. However, strips don’t always stop snoring entirely.

That said, I have found that sometimes you don’t have to fix snoring entirely to remedy the sound problem. A light snore may be quiet enough to not cause a problem for other sleepers.

The mechanism works to open nostrils and make the nose “bigger”. That said, they are not designed to be used for snoring due to more serious sleep apnea issues.

Nasal Strips for Sports?

Some athletes use nasal strips in sports. Even though studies don’t prove that they boost athletic performance, enlarging airways can help you breathe during strenuous exercise like football, running, etc..

What About the Snoreeze Nasal Strips Alternative?

Snoreeze Nasal Strips target snoring caused by a cold, allergies, asthma or a blocked nose (just like other products). However, they cost a little more and customer reviews I’ve seen are less than optimal.

Snoreeeze Oral Strips to Get Rid of Snoring NaturallyHaving said that, Snoreeze does sell oral strips that people like more. They work differently, in that you place them on the roof of your mouth instead of sticking them on the bridge of your nose.

How They Work: the minty strips dissolve after you place them on the roof of your mouth. The specially-designed formula then lubricates the back of the throat, providing an effective natural remedy for snoring. (See ingredients listed on the right).

More Health Benefits from Using a Simple Snoring Nose Piece?

In addition to preventing snoring, reducing congestion can produce numerous other health benefits. For example, it can minimize sinus headaches and give you a more restful night’s sleep.

In turn, improved sleep generally leads to a better mood, clearer thinking and less fatigue throughout the day. You may buy a nose piece for snoring, but continue to use it because of how you feel the next day. =)
